Best of/Worst of....

I did not have a favorite, poem or a least favorite poem; I really do not like poetry

My favorite short story would have to be “girl” because it sounds like my mother when I get home, do this, and don’t do this kind of a thing. Least favorite would have to be “Bartleby”, just slow and really did not like the style.

Yes, I think I was a good story and teach us about the “American Dream”, how to work for what you want, and not everyone knows what they want in life.

I really did not care for Hollywood’s version of Bartleby because I did not like the story, but Death of a Salesman was not bad to watch. Watching the movies do help you understand more of what is going on, because you and visually see it.

I do not have a favorite in class activity, I like it when different teachers came in and talked.

No I do not miss that we did not have presentations.

I really did not like the blog post; I do not like other students reading my work. So no, I do not have a favorite or least favorite blog post.

Grandpa Willy

Ever since you were little I always talked about my father and your grandpa Willy. How he was living his dream job as being a sales man and traveling all the time. All he wanted to do was to be rich and support his family. Always was supporting me in becoming a great football, coming to my games, playing catch, and always talking about me becoming a sales man.

Having the dream of becoming rich and supporting your family is not bad, but do not let it control your life. Grandpa Willy dreams of becoming rich took over his life to the point that he was never home, Grandma Linda was lonely but always happy when he was home.  It also took a toll on his body, in which he got so worn down that he started to go crazy.

He is a great man to look up to, he taught me how to be supportive, but sometimes he was overly supportive. Yes I am happy that he supported me in football but not in school. He also pushed me into being a sales man, which I did not want to be. I really wanted to become a football player but I did not have the grades to.

I just want to let you know that you can become rich and do what you want to do. Do not let anyone push you into any different direction then what you want to do. I will try my hardest to support you in any way I possibly can.

Linda's Diary

May 24, 1948

Dear Dairy,

Today has been an interesting day even though nothing to exciting happened, just the usual. Woke up did my stuff around the house, cleaned, made sure the boys and Willy got ready to go to work and school. Willy is a hard worker, I know his dream is to be rich like his older brother  Ben and give me all the things in the world. In all honesty I am happy with the house, the boys and the things we have. I would just like Willy to be home more often, find a job in an office maybe so he is not always on the road.

Anyways that is all for today until next time.

Dear Dairy,

I am so glad the boys are home again. I love having the noise and other people to take care of. But ever since Biff has been home Willy has been acting strange again. I do not like when he does this, he works hard and has to much on his mind. I know something is mentally wrong with him but I do not want to tell him he is going crazy. Deep down I think he knows that something is wrong because he keeps trying to kill himself. First time was when he crashed the car, which people said it was no accident, and personally I believe them. Willy is a good man but these mental break downs are getting worse and worse, I do not know how much I can put up with. All I want is for him to quit his job, be home, relax and have my Willy back.

The Lottery

In the Short story “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson the “The 'tribal' nature of a small community is to stick together and try not to stray away from traditions. In which there tradition is to have a “Lottery”, in the end there is not winning but a stoning of someone in the community. Coming from a small community I can understand having traditions and not straying from them. Our small town annual events are the Raspberry festival, the Idaho County Fair, also some companies and the church puts on Barbecue during the summer.

The festival, fair, and barbecues we put on are mostly for everyone together as a community. Talk about how their family is doing, crops, weather, and it is a great time for new and old gossip to travel around. The lottery is just a reason for the community to get a break from there every day lives and gossip with everyone. They really do not like this tradition but traditions are hard to break, especially in smaller communities. We used to have buggy whip, which is when people from all around bring their old cars and show them off. It was a great time for kids to run around, for the women to gossip, and the men to drink. Then I got the point that I was just one big drunk fest and people got hurt, and things got stolen or damaged. Even though it was great fun we had to stop because it was getting out of hand. It was hard straying away from that tradition but it need to be done.

Girl Imitation

Boy
Always mind your manners, say please and thank you, never talk with your mouth full, or eat with your elbows off the table.  Respect you elders; actually respect anyone and everyone you meet.  Always get dressed before you leave your house, pajamas are for the house not for the rest of the world to see. What if I am only going to the store and back. Well then put on some pant and a sweatshirt on, because trust me nobody wants to see you in your pajamas. Always clean up after yourself, put away your things, and keep a clean house.  Macke sure your house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy.  When you meet a lady make her feel special, like she is the only women in the world. Never hit, yell, put her down, or say mean thing to her. Tell her every morning how beautiful she looks and how much your love her. Most importantly remember your mother never forget the one that raised you. And always remember I love you forever, like you for always, as long as I am still living my baby you will be.

dialogue

This is a scene where a two roommates where sitting in their apartment talking about their day.

First roommate: you will never believe what I saw today

Second roommate: what?

First: I saw a mom and a child…

Second: oh cool I see a mom and a child everyday (as she giggles)

First: oh shut up, anyways I saw this mom and this child shopping and the child was throwing this huge fit because they wanted something and mom wasn’t giving it to them.

Second:  Wow if I ever did that I would have been spanked and out of that store in a heartbeat!

First: yeah me too, but the cool part is that the mom actually did something about it.

Second: that is very rare these days

First she actually punished the child in the middle of the store got what they wanted and left.

Second: I am glad that she is actually not giving into her child like most parents do these days.

Frist: me too.

Then  the two roommates go back talking about their day and doing homework.
